MetisDAO (METIS) is an Ethereum Layer-2 scaling solution designed to address the blockchain trilemma by offering a decentralized, secure, and scalable infrastructure. Metis helps developers and businesses build and manage decentralized applications (dApps) while integrating the Decentralized Autonomous Companies (DACs) framework.
Metis uses Optimistic Rollups, bundling multiple transactions off-chain and settling them on Ethereum’s Layer 1 to reduce costs and increase speed. It also offers Memo Labs integration for cheaper, decentralized off-chain data storage. A Hybrid Rollup solution combining zk-proofs and Optimistic Rollups is in development
Metis was co-founded in 2019 by Elena Sinelnikova, Kevin Liu, and Yuan Su. The project officially launched in November 2021. The team is composed of blockchain veterans and software engineers, with a focus on solving Ethereum’s core issues while fostering decentralization
Metis is working on launching its Hybrid Rollup solution, combining Optimistic Rollups with zero-knowledge proofs to enhance scalability and security. The platform will also expand its DACs framework, further enabling decentralized business models and exploring more integrations for enterprise-level use cases.
